[Rejuvenating Gem] remains one of the finest healing trinkets in the game. Its balance between healing and regen is only matched in [Memento of Tyrande], and remains a staple of many priests' gear right through to Illidan.

[Shard of the Scale] is still a reasonable trinket, assuming you are not a JCer and that you never got Warmth of Forgiveness. Replace this with Diabolic (in 2.3) or Fel Reaver's if you really love that Mp5.

Enchants

Head: [Item not found!] (HH - Revered) or [Prophetic Aura] (ZG Honored; requires a drop from Bloodlord Mandokir or Jin'Do the Hexxer)

Shoulders: [Greater Inscription of the Oracle] (Scryers - Exalted) or [Greater Inscription of Faith] (Aldor - Exalted) or [Zandalar Signet of Serenity] (Zandalar - Exalted)

Cloak: Subtlety or Armor (no 'good' enchant)

Chest: +15 spirit; +6 Mp5; +6 all stats; +150 mana (poor choice)

Bracers: +6 Mp5; +4 all stats; +30 healing

Gloves: +35 healing

Pants: [Golden Spellthread] (Aldor - Exalted : Recipe) or [Prophetic Aura] (Zandalar - Honored; requires drop)

Boots: Vitality (4 Mp5); 12 stamina; Boar's Speed (if you're willing to use 12 stam, this is a superior enchant due to run speed being useful)

Rings: +20 Healing (enchanter-only)

Weapon: +81 healing; Spellsurge; +20 spirit (only for a spirit weapon)

Suggestions
Any further major sections missing? I've added a few things over the last couple of days; I need to do a re-read of pages 2-3 of this thread to pick out things that should be added.

There are three primary attributes a raiding healing priest should possess: healing throughput, mana efficiency, and survivability. Priests excel at throughput; are middle of the road at mana efficiency; are pretty weak in survivability. However, all healing priests should strive to do well at all three, and spell selection, gearing choices, and spatial awareness will help with all three.

Spell Selection
These are not hard and fast rules, and they will change depending on factors like whether we are clearing trash or working on a boss encounter, whether you are healing a main tank or healing the raid, or whether a fight requires reactive healing by its nature or permits for proactive cancel-casting. But for the vast majority of boss fights, you will want to use Greater Heal (in various ranks), Renew, and Prayer of Mending very frequently; Flash Heal and Binding Heal as the situation permits or requires; and Prayer of Healing and Power Word: Shield only in very exceptional circumstances. Allow me to discuss each in further detail.

Greater Heal – This is your powerhouse, staple healing spell, and if you’re using it correctly it should be your most mana-efficient as well. Everyone should at very least use Ranks 1 and 7, and I strongly suggest you find another mid-point rank to utilize as well (I use Rank 3). At Rank 1, you will be healing for slightly more than a top-rank Flash Heal, for a third less mana. Rank 7 will be your most powerful healing throughput, great for hard-hitting fights or for healing up any large quantity of missing health in only one cast. The best way to use Greater Heal is as an anticipatory heal, especially on main tanks. If you try to react to damage taken with a Greater Heal, a Paladin will beat you to the heal almost always. But if you start to cast it before your target actually takes the damage, then as the target takes damage your heal will complete casting and “immediately” heal them back up, or you can cancel the heal if it becomes unnecessary. I find Ranks 1, 3, and 7 wonderful for cancel-casting in this fashion on Main Tanks, and choose which rank to cast based on how hard I expect a boss to hit. This spell is still wonderful for raid healing, though, if you are quick on your reactions, and it will save you lots of mana in the long run. Acquiring your Tier 5 2-piece set bonus will make it all the more efficient.

Renew – This is a wonderful “stabilizing” spell. A lot of it will be overheal, but it is worthwhile just for the healing ticks that it will provide in the gaps between your heals and other healers’. If you are Main Tank healing, you should be keeping this HoT active on your tank at all times, refreshing it whenever it runs out, unless there is some sort of transition-based or other aggro concerns. Acquiring your Tier 5 4-piece set bonus will lengthen Renew’s time by a tick, effectively increasing the time between needing to recast it, which can mean the difference between getting outside the FSR or not.

Prayer of Mending – This instant reactive heal is incredible, and if you are Main Tank healing, you should be placing it on your tank every time it comes off of cooldown, including prior to each pull. The healing it does is substantial for the amount of mana it costs with even only one tick, and if it has a chance to jump a few times (such as in melee-intensive fights), it becomes your most efficient spell. It’s “fire and forget”, allowing its healing to continue long after you’ve started cancel-casting, healing elsewhere, or just regenning mana. Best of all, the healing aggro is attributed to the person the spell heals, and not you, which makes it safe to place on tanks at the start of pulls, and helps them build a little bit more aggro each and every time you use it. There are, however, a few fights where this is not ideal, but you should know those to be exceptions and not the rule.

Gearing
Opinions vary, but I deem the three most important stats for healing priests to be +healing, spirit/mp5, and stamina. +Healing increases your healing throughput, obviously, which plays to priests’ strengths of packing a big punch with their heals. Spirit/mp5 keep your mana pool churning; I slightly prefer Spirit because we have so many talents (Meditation, Spiritual Guidance, Spiritual Healing) that give it hidden benefits, while mp5 is a flat, “what you see is what you get” stat. But it’s a matter of preference. You might be scratching your head at my inclusion of Stamina, but it’s simple—we’re not wearing plate, mail, or even leather like other healers. We can Fade, we can shield ourselves, we can PoM ourselves, but at the end of the day, if we can’t take a hit, then we aren’t going to stay alive long enough to be of use to anyone. Gone are the days where the priest taking even a single point of damage was the tank’s fault. Karathress’s Shadowbolt, Tidewalker’s Watery Grave; all unavoidable sources of damage that can kill you if you aren’t at full health when they hit you, and you don’t have enough Stamina. You also might wonder why I didn’t include Intellect—it’s nice to have, but ultimately, if your mana regeneration is strong enough, it won’t really matter. You should never reach the point where you have absolutely no mana—you should either increase your mana pot usage, your Shadowfiend usage, or your gearing choices to up your regen.
Spell Critical rating becomes more common on healing items in Tier 6 instances, and if you have Inspiration it might be worth playing with, but the gear that it comes on is heavily itemized towards Paladins, which do well with lots of mp5 and Intellect. I would not recommend choosing such items over Paladins. Spell Haste rating is also a fairly new stat in Tier 6 instances and beyond, and it may in fact become very beneficial for healers to assemble a Spell Haste gear set for fights that require intense, quick heals, but it may not be a beneficial stat for your normal healing set. I would love to open a discussion, however, on this stat as we progress further into Tier 6 raid instances.

Enchant your gear. Enchant your gear. Enchant your gear. There are plenty of enchanters in the guild (like myself) who can help you out. You should have the helm enchant from Thrallmar reputation, Golden Spellthread on your pants (I’ll accept Silver Spellthread under the condition that you’re actively working on getting yourself/an exalted Aldor tailor a Primal Nether), and an enchant of your choice on every other item slot. Get the shoulder enchant from Aldor or Scryers, preferably the Exalted version. If you’re an enchanter yourself, enchant your rings with 20 Healing. Put 81 Healing or Spellsurge on your weapon, but if you put 30 Intellect on it, I’ll beat you with it. :P Make sure all socketable gear has gems in every slot. If you want a raid invite, then you should have all of your Epic-quality PvE gear (essentially, anything you plan on equipping during the course of a boss fight) enchanted and fully gemmed with Rare-quality gems. I do understand that it takes some time to farm up mats after you acquire a new piece of gear, but if more than a week goes by without you getting something enchanted and/or socketed, expect to be asked to go farm for enchanting/gem mats in lieu of getting invited to the raid.
